THANK YOU......
For your overwhelming support of Mitzvah Day 2008!
We had an incredible day!
. With the help of our Religious School families we made 600 sandwiches which have been distributed to the San Fernando Valley Mission and the North Hollywood Interfaith Food Pantry. All the open PB&J was taken and used by L.A. Family Housing and the left over sealed jars were donated to SOVA.
. Our ECC and Day School children collected over 100 Thanksgiving meals to donate to SOVA. Each bag has been decorated with a beautiful Thanksgiving picture.
. We sorted a large mound of toiletries for the North Hollywood Interfaith Food Pantry
. We decorated about 100 bookplates for books collected for Snugglup America
. We crowded around Kristi Costin and gave support to 16 of our friends and fellow congregants young and old as Kristi cut their hair for Locks of Love.
. We bagged many, many, many pounds of Halloween candy for the San Fernando Valley Mission, The North Hollywood Interfaith Food Pantry and L.A. Family Housing.
. We collected over $1000 dollars to purchase desperately needed socks and underwear for the families sheltering at the San Fernando Valley Rescue Mission through the sales of the Mitzvah Day t-shirts.
. We made a giant mailbox for Jewish World Watch’s 1 million postcard project. If you have not yet signed a post card please look for the mailbox at upcoming Adat Ari El events and sign a card giving your support to assistance for the refugees in Darfur. We also put together advocacy kits for JWW.
. We made beautiful cards and collected socks for the patients of the Grossman Burn Center.
. We convinced congregants to part with their blood for our City of Hope Blood drive.
. We wrote and decorated letters that will accompany care packages going to the men and women of our Armed Forces. Hopefully some of them will write back! We know all of them will appreciate our good thoughts.
. We collected many things! Candy, DVD’s, towels, can openers, toiletries, glasses, and yes, more CANDY!
We were busy off site too!
. The Men's Club put on a BBQ fabulous at PATH.
. We sorted food at SOVA with congregants from Stephen S. Wise.
. We helped build houses for Habitat for Humanity’s phase II site.
