The Abraham’s Tent collection bins are located in the breezeway on the left as you enter the synagogue. There you will find two barrels marked for SOVA and one storage container for the monthly collection item.
The SOVA barrel is for the ongoing collection of canned and dried food. No glass or fresh food please! Also, parents, please note that SOVA is happy to take open packages of diapers. Please put them in the barrels at any time.
The storage container next to the barrels is for the posted monthly collection item ONLY which will be clearly marked on a sign next to the bin. Please do not put any other items in the bin. Neither the Abe’s Tent committee, nor the Adat Ari El maintenance staff are set up to handle additional donations.
If you have items such as clothing and furniture to donate please contact our friends at the National Council of Jewish Women (NCJW). They will be happy to take the items that we cannot handle and they will pick them up for free!
For those of you concerned that your items will be sold and may not reach people in need, please be aware that the NCJW gives vouchers to agencies like SOVA which will allow clients in to shop for free at the council thrift stores. There are currently two thrift stores operating in the San Fernando Valley.
Please contact the NCJW for a pick up at (800) 400-6259 or (323) 655-3111. You may also contact them online at www.ncjwla.org.
Thank you again for supporting the Abraham’s Tent collection program. The agencies we support are very grateful for Adat Ari El’s generosity.
